Coby McCauley – HVAC tech
This time of year in Arkansas we get to experience 3-4 seasons all in one month (if not all in one week) making it hard to regulate the temperature in your home. Many homeowners are concerned about breaking or wearing out their system by switching back and forth. There is actually no harm in flipping the switch from heat to cool and back again so you can stay comfortable. Most systems now ac-tually have a delay so when you change modes, it protects your compressor.
However, it is 2022, and there is an easier way. Today we have smart thermostats and newer thermostats that have automat-ic changeover features. Just set your temperature rating to whatever you are comfortable with in heat and cool mode and it automatically switches for you.
Switching back and forth between heating and cooling during the spring and fall is not necessarily bad for your HVAC system. But to make sure that it doesn’t become damaged, it is import-ant to have one of Bud Anderson’s qualified technicians perform regular maintenance on your unit.
